22/12/2017 |
Auction turnovers for cut flowers in October were lower than a year before (-6%), but in November turnovers were 3% higher than in 2016. Indoor plant turnovers also changed, but in the opposite direction. In October, turnovers inceased by just under 4%, but these decreased by almost 2% in November. An increased supply led to a decrease in the average price by more than 3%. Clearly, garden plants fared much better in this month: thanks to higher Christmas trading, turnover increased by almost 5% compared to 2016. Based on data from Floridata, VGB reported that Dutch exports of flowers and plants continued to grow in October and November, although the increase was not as high as in the preceding months. Over the first eleven months of 2017, total export growth was up more than 5%. |
