Export of ornamentals increases by 6% in the first seven months |
31/08/2017 |
The export of ornamentals in the first seven months of 2017 amounted to a value of almost 3.8 billion euros. The export growth of 6% is partly due to the favourable distribution of holidays on which flowers are given. However, auction turnovers for cutflowers grown in the Netherlands experienced a summer dip due to a lower average price. In July, the price level was 6% lower, but the numbers sold remained at the same level as last year. Auction turnover for houseplants in the first seven months of this year was almost 5% higher than last year. In July, a turnover growth of more than 8% was recorded. Turnover for garden plants also continued to grow, despite a drop in numbers sold. Average prices in July were 9% higher than in 2016. |
