Margins for livestock positive, except for broilers |
28/06/2017 |
Margins for dairy cattle in May 2017 amounted to 18,200 euros per farm. This is 2,200 euros higher than the long-term average of May. This development is especially due to the increased milk price. Pig farming has had positive results for a longer time thanks to the higher price for fattening pigs and piglets. In May, the margins on sow farms were almost 40,000 euros higher than last year. These margins have been higher than the long-term average (2007-2016) for a year now. The margins on layer hen farms have also improved after a poor start of the year. In May, margins were 22,000 euros higher than last year, especially due to higher yields. However, this does not apply to margins for broiler chicks, which were almost 10,000 euros lower than last year. This was 20% below the long-term average for the month. |
